COST Action FA1305 is offering 15 places on the training school 3 Commercial Aquaponics to be held by the University of Iceland 9 – 12 September 2015. Successful applicants will be offered a maximum grant of €1120 as a contribution towards the costs of travel, accommodation and meals. The training school will be delivered by Dr. Ragnheidur Thorarinsdottir and profesor Kristin Vala Ragnarsdottir, University of Iceland, Dr. Paul Rye Kledal Institute of Global Food and Farming in Denmark and Dr. Mitja Kopina, Project Manager at Gnezdo d.o.o. and Ponika in Slovenia (www.ponnod.com). The lectures and practical classes will mainly be conducted at the the ecovillage Solheimar South Iceland.

Job opportunities for MSc students

Two positions are available for MSc students related to an EU funded project entitled Ecofood from Aquaponics “EcoPonics” (www.aquaponics.is/ecoponics). The project is developing aquaponics systems for coproduction of fish and plants. The work is related to the closure of nutrition cycles and optimization of production in terms of both quality and quantity of fish and vegetables. The project is connected to aquaponics networks in Europe and it is possible that travel may be included in the work. Students can use the work as an MSc project, but it is also possible to apply for a summer job.

Í boði eru tvö störf fyrir MS nemendur sem tengjast verkefni sem styrkt er af Evrópusambandinu, Ecofood from Aquaponics “EcoPonics” (www.aquaponics.is/ecoponics). Í verkefni þessu er verið að setja upp og þróa samræktarkerfi fyrir fisk og jurtir (aquaponics). Störfin tengjast lokun næringarhringja og bestun framleiðslu með tilliti til gæða og magns bæði fiska og grænmetis. Verkefnið tengist samstarfsneti í Evrópu og mögulegt að heimsóknir til samstarfsaðila verði hluti af starfinu. Til greina kemur að nemendur nýti sér verkefnið sem hluta af MS gráðu en einnig er unnt að sækja um sumarstarf.

Áhugasamir nemendur geta sent inn umsókn með lífshlaupi og fyrri reynslu til Kristínar Völu Ragnarsdóttur (vala@hi.is) eða Ragnheiðar I. Þórarinsdóttur (rith@hi.is). Frestur til að skila inn umsóknum er til 31. mars 2014.
